How it's made: Custom Flags

There are a few ways that a custom flag can be made, such as sewn/applique and screen print, but by far the most popular is digital print.

Digital printing is a process where we print directly to the flag fabric using our brand new Mimaki Tx2-1800 printers.

The fabric we use is a 115gsm 100% polyester flag material (Fire retardant material is also available) and we use this for all of our flags.

Once the flag has been printed, it goes through a pressure, heat sealing process to lock in the colours so they don't bleed when it rains. At this stage, your flag is still on a roll of material so it needs to be cut to size and then passed over to the finishing department.

The role of the finishing department is to put the finishing touches to your flag, which includes hemming the edges for added protection against the wind and finishing it with your specified finishing options which could be eyelets, D-rings, Rope & Toggle or a pouch or sleeve of some sort.

And ta-da, your flag is ready!
